Head of Practice Sales - Chris Mayor - Lily Head Dental Practice Sales

In this edition of the Dental Business Transactions Podcast, Lily Head talks to Chris Mayor.  Chris was promoted into the role of ‘Head of Practice Sales’ on 1st April 2021.  Chris’s brief is to develop our commercial offer to dentists and to develop the operations team so that we have the right people in the right seat and that everyone is rowing in the same direction.

Here is an outline of Chris’ discussion with Lily Head.

What kind of things are most important to you?

  • Transformation – seeking to make/do things differently and for the better.  From constantly changing my bedroom layout as a child to renovating and selling my homes and to working within service and process transformation roles.
  • Good quality service and working with people – acting in the best interest of others.  That includes my friends and family as well as business clients and colleagues.
  • Working hard – Doing what I love and doing it well – I found running in my late 30’s and have gone from running round the block and nearly dying to running ultra-marathons.

Tell me about how your career brought you to us and about your wider experience of helping dentists.

  • I have been working with dentists for just over 10 years.
  • Formerly with Denplan as a Business Consultant/Account Manager covering North, East and South Yorkshire.
  • Then working for Denplan’s parent company, Simplyhealth in Acquisitions and Business Partnering, as part of their Partnerships proposition.
  • I’ve been with Lily Head Dental Practice Sales since Jan 2020.  Joining as a Dental Broker, now the ‘Head of Practice Sales’.
  • Prior to that, I worked in Financial Services for 13 years.

What professional competency do you bring to your new role of ‘Head of Practice Sales’?

    • Have worked closely with practices, Principals and Teams throughout my 10 years of working with dentists.
    • Broad level of experience, knowledge and understanding of dental practices.
    • Acquisitions, Partnership and Consultancy experience with Denplan / Simplyhealth.
    • Previous experience in Denplan – Key Client Consultancy for 100+ dentists
    • Years prior to dentistry, working within Financial Services, performing relationship management, business coaching and service transformation roles.
    • A collaborative approach when working with clients and team members.

What improvements in our offer are you planning to make?

  • My initial priorities are to enhance these areas.
    • Customer experience.
    • Reducing time to completion.
    • Process improvement and simplification.
    • Customer centricity.
    • Build upon what is already a strong brand, growing our reputation and coverage.
